When all we need is a hug and a pat...

Tonight after sleeping about an hr and a half, Harper decided to wake up crying.  I thought maybe she just got roused awake but the crying kept going on and on... she would stand up in her crib, lay down, sit up... back and forth, back in forth.  I went in there once to lay her back down and then quickly walked out.  But the crying continued.  After about another 10 minutes of the boo-hooing, I gave in and picked her up.  I just held her tight to me and nuzzled her little head to my shoulder... her cheek to mine.  After a few minutes of swaying back and forth she put one arm around my neck.  That did me in.  I realized as I hugged my daughter that sometimes all we need is to wrapped in loving arms and snuggled....crying it out alone just won't do.  Its like that many times in our lives... to release our grief, sadness, worries, pains we sob alone and the hurt continues to linger.  What we really need to heal is Someone to hold us for a little while; to gently pat us on the back until the bad things seem to fade.  Don't let the pride of weeping alone get in the way of a sweet embrace.

I like this post...it's a good one. Also, since my invitation to Harper's party apparently got lost in the mail, tell her I said Happy Birthday!

Thanks, Scott!
No worries, we just had a little family party. But you will definitely be the first one invited to her party next year ;)
