Popping the Pride Balloon
So, Harper is turning 1 in a few weeks and Ive been priding myself in not going overboard and keeping the party planning simple. I started out great... decided on a family-only party at the park. Sounded harmless. Reserved a pavilion a few months ago.. no biggie. But as the time drew closer and closer the party planning started to grow. First came the wonderful invention of the site, Vistaprint. I was able to get some cute invites and a banner made for practically nothing. Then I realized how much extended family I really wanted to be there... and so that grew. Next, was the idea of a theme. What?!? Why does a one year old need a themed party... she doesn't care! But I got sucked in by the cute idea of birds and owls... and Oriental Trading was just what it took to push it over the top!
So now, after many months of thinking about my daughter turning 1 Ive had to "pop the pride balloon" and realize that Ive turned it into something more than I thought. Will it be fun and cute...yes! Will Harper's family enjoy celebrating her birthday...certainly! Was there need for matching cups and plates? No. Did she need a Happy Birthday banner... definitely not. Oh well. There is always next year to scale down.... if I can.....ha!
