Life as Lydia

All in just about an hour..

Well, Brad was gone for the evening so I had Harper by myself for awhile and lets just say it was an adventure.
First, let me set the stage... Harper has a cold.. consisting of a ever-flowing snotty nose and a cough.  She also is "phasing out" of an afternoon feeding and a late afternoon nap...so, in a nutshell.. she is cranky!
So, she has been fed and now its playtime until bath time.  I let her play in the living room while I try to eat my dinner sitting on the couch.  Yes, Im watching TV... but as a mother I can multi-task and do both successfully.. yeah, right...anywho....  Well, she cant crawl yet so she kind of "worms" her way to wherever she wants to go.  Im eating and watching TV AND watching her... well, she successfully climbs into the bottom of her Exersaucer!  I dont know HOW she does it .. but she does!  And well, like a first time mom... I grab my camera and take pictures!
Well, after I get the shots that I want I remove her from there and place her back by her toys while I try again to finish my dinner.  Next, she worms her way over to the kitchen tile.  This is ok because she likes slapping it with her palms to hear the noise and feel the cold, smooth texture.  I continue to eat... but she is not slapping now.. but coughing.  No big deal, right? Cause she has a cold... well, the coughing continues until she gags.. I run over to where she is and see that she has pulled up the carpet where the tile and it meet and little carpet fuzzies are laying around.  All I can guess is that she tried eating it and got choked or she really had some  phlegm and had to cough it up.  I felt like a terrible mom anyways... letting my child possibly eat carpet!
Oh, and in between all this ... I heard a weird sound coming from the back of the house out by the patio... kind of scary, like someone was trying to scrape at the window by the back door.  Well, it wasnt... just the lab pup trying to eat his way into the house starting with the window ledge!
So, between my baby eating carpet to the dog eating the window... I had an eventful evening!
